Description

Delicious and crispy falafels made from scratch, perfect for a nutritious vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dried chickpeas
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the chickpeas in water for 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
  3. In a food processor, blend the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, baking soda, salt, and pepper into a coarse paste.
  4. Form balls or patties from the mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the falafels until golden brown on both sides, about 3-5 minutes per side.
  6. Remove and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with tahini sauce or in pita, adding your favorite vegetables or sauces.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake the falafels at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
