Description

A quick and easy homemade salsa that brings maximum flavor for any taco night or snack session.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 120 ml water
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the pimientos de árbol and toast for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. Add vegetable oil, Roma tomatoes, garlic, and onion to the skillet. Roast for 4 to 5 minutes until slightly charred and soft.
  3. Transfer everything to a blender, add the toasted peppers, salt, water, and optional vinegar. Blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the salsa back into the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally and adjusting salt to taste.

Notes

For mild salsa, reduce or omit the pimientos de árbol. Let the salsa simmer to enhance flavor.
