Ingredients

  • 1 kg ripe tomatoes (or 2 cans of crushed tomatoes)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (like basil or oregano)

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients: Wash the tomatoes, remove the seeds, and cut them into chunks. Finely chop the onion and garlic.
  2. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic: Cook the onion until it’s transparent, then add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the tomatoes: Toss in the chopped tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Add sugar if desired, and stir.
  5. Let it simmer: Lower the heat and let the sauce cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Incorporate the herbs: Stir in fresh herbs right before serving.
