- 1 pinch nutmeg
Instructions
- Warm the milk in a separate container until it is lukewarm.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, slowly melt the butter.
- Gradually add the flour while stirring to create a roux.
- Slowly pour in the warm milk while vigorously mixing until smooth.
- Add salt and nutmeg to taste and cook for a few more minutes.

Notes
For a cheesy version, add cheese to the béchamel. To make it gluten-free, substitute flour with cornstarch.
