Description

A quick and delicious salsa that will make your taste buds dance, perfect for tacos, nachos, or enjoyed by the spoonful.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb tomatillos, husked and rinsed
  • 1 small white onion, quartered
  • 1 serrano chili, stem removed
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler to high and position the rack 6 inches from the heat.
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  3. Arrange the tomatillos, onion, and serrano chili on the baking sheet and broil until charred, about 15-17 minutes, turning every few minutes for even browning.
  4. Transfer the charred ingredients and their juices to a food processor.
  5. Add cilantro, garlic, honey, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  6. Taste and adjust salt as needed.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ingredients according to your tastes, such as using green tomatoes instead of tomatillos or parsley instead of cilantro.
