- 1 lb tomatillos, husked and rinsed
- 1 small white onion, quartered
- 1 serrano chili, stem removed
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
- 1 tsp fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat the broiler to high and position the rack 6 inches from the heat.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Arrange the tomatillos, onion, and serrano chili on the baking sheet and broil until charred, about 15-17 minutes, turning every few minutes for even browning.
- Transfer the charred ingredients and their juices to a food processor.
- Add cilantro, garlic, honey, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- Taste and adjust salt as needed.
Notes
Feel free to substitute ingredients according to your tastes, such as using green tomatoes instead of tomatillos or parsley instead of cilantro.
